December has arrived! With some good news we hope, and cheer towards the end of the year. Our twelve weeks of sharing the love of Christmas giving is passing really quickly! Although the year has been so momentous with all of the challenges, it seems to have accelerated towards 2021 too. Here at Solo Living, we hope, if you have started your journey of making and creating gifts for your loved ones, all is progressing well. For this Week 10 in our series of For the Love of Christmas Gift Giving, our attention turns to food gifts and gifts for foodies.

Food gifts are always great gifts for everyone really: for those who you are not sure what they might like to those who have pretty much everything. A foodie gift is always welcome and enjoyed. Usually culinary gifts are made to be offered and shared during the festive season and it is always great to have a glamourous platter on hand or to enjoy while on long distance calls. This year with many people spending Christmas alone a food gift can express a feeling of love and care to know your loved one can enjoy some fabulous food as the holiday moves from Christmas Eve through to the New Year.
This jam making pan could be ideal for the person in your life who makes the most of the seasonal fruit harvest or if you like making food gifts yourself.
And if you are working on your own recipes, these tags can add the personal touch to your offerings.
Have a look at these jam jars adding 52 weeks of happiness and an authentic and rustic edge to your presentation.
If you prefer to gift selections or hampers we have sourced a selection for different favourite foods and drinks.
Cheese is a huge part of the winter celebration and as a gift, one cannot go wrong with a cheese hamper with the little add-on of a jar of chutney, for after dinner or lunch.
An afternoon tea hamper is also a lovely idea as there have not been as many opportunities to enjoy the afternoon teas in hotels this year. Champagne is an additional option here.
For a personalised food hamper with bespoke selections adding to the gift, this Italian Hamper is also great for planning low-key warming suppers during the winter or a great gift for students to return to College after the holidays.
Or, if you are feeling like treating yourself to hamper royalty, one of these truly bountiful hampers from Fortnum & Mason would be a wonderful and well-deserved treat for anyone. With an added bonus of a lovely hamper for the summer months.
As can be this Scottish coffee selection, with different varieties to discover.
Or, an artisanal coffee and coffee pot gift. These pots have a huge fan base for great reason as they get better and better the more they are used.
Heading into the post-Christmas calm, it is always helpful to have some new cooking ideas as we hunker down for the colder months and this spice blend gift set can be a great foodie gift for new ideas and inspiration.
And finally, I had to include one of my childhood favourites which evokes memories of family visits all year round and these will last well into the year (if you gift enough boxes!). It has to be the Tunnocks Gift Box.
As an alternative foodie gift, here are a couple of the great new cookbook making great for gifts and great self-gifts considering we have not had the same chance to sample our fantastic food industries. You might need a change of recipe scene…and cookbooks can be a good opportunity to support our hospitality industries in an indirect way.

Ottolenghi – always an inspiration: Flavour
Ina Garten, The Barefoot Contessa – my sister’s favourite: Modern Comfort Food
